***The intermission takes place at chapter 13, if viewing in DVD/Blu-ray format.

Part 1 Time:  80 Minutes

Part 2 Time:  74 Minutes

Where does the first part end? Sir Edmund Burton (Anthony Hopkins) explains the connections that Transformers have had throughout human history and Vivian Wembly’s (Laura Haddock) role in finding Merlin’s staff.

Final line of dialogue on the first part: Sir Edmund Burton speaks hasty; “So you better find that staff quickly. Now!”

First line of dialogue on the second part:  An unnamed British TRF or MI6 commander announces; “TRF Surround the castle and lock it down.”

How jarring is it when the first part ends? Jarring, the intermission point brings extreme urgency as Vivian Wembly now understands the mythology of her ancestors and her role in preventing ‘Unicorn’s’ (i.e., Earth’s) destruction.

Which part is better? The film overall is a jumbled mess with rapid editing and multiple story threads converging into one, which can be quite hard to follow at times. Part one is much more intriguing with the inclusion of mythology and stronger character moments. Part two is full of action and impressive visuals, but is weaker due to its chaotic editing. Overall, part one is better as it provides a sense of mystery in addition to entertaining performances from both transformers and actors.
