Tom Hanks (1956- )

Considered by many as the most genuine feel good actor in Hollywood, Tom Hanks has acted in a wide range of film genres including drama, comedy, sci-fi and biopics. Throughout his career, Hanks has had the opportunity to portray the stories of many significant Americans including Captain Phillips, Mr. Rogers, Walt Disney and Jim Lovell to name a few. His method acting style has “come to exemplify all that is right and decent about America” (McQuirter, 2022, pp. 11), as we are able to see the best of humanity through his character portrayals. Throughout his four decade career, Hanks has been nominated for multiple acting awards, having won the best leading actor Oscar two years in a row (a feat only reached by one other XY actor). These achievements have undoubtedly made Tom Hanks among the elite actors in Hollywood all-time.
