Where does the first part end?

Theatrical/ Extended- Doug MacRay checks on Claire Keesey (Rebecca Hall) following Fergie Colm’s (Pete Postlethwaite) threat. Claire finally discovers Doug MacRay’s true profession.

Final line of dialogue on the first part:

Theatrical/ Extended- “You don’t ever let me see you again. Never, never,” Claire Keesey shouts.

First line of dialogue on the second part:

Theatrical– Dialogue begins in the second scene of part two, where Doug MacRay speaks with Fergie Colm, “All right, i’m in.”

Extended- Dialogue begins in the third scene of part two, where Doug MacRay visits and speaks Krista Coughlin (Blake Lively), “I’m taking off for a while.”

How jarring is it when the first part ends? Jarring, Doug MacRay is ready to quit heisting, but is threatened by Fergie Colm who warns that he will kill Claire if Doug does not do the job. To make matters worse Claire has finally figured out what Doug’s real profession is. Will Doug take this final job, or will Claire turn him in to the FBI?

Which part is better? It is strongly recommended to watch the extended cut of the film as it details the complex relationships and struggles between characters. The film is comparable to the 1995 film Heat, which shares the same basic plot (a crew that participates in heists). Part two of the film stands out mainly for the Fenway Park job, which leads to an action backed climax.
