Where does the first part end? Kiril Lakota (Anthony Quinn) addresses thousands of Catholics outside St. Peters Square as the new Pope.

Final line of dialogue on the first part: “With the world in a state of crisis it is impossible at this time to assess what the ramifications might be.” Reporter George Faber (David Janssen) speaking at St. Peters Square during Kiril’s convocation.

First line of dialogue on the second part: “Holiness” Cardinal Leone (Leo McKern) addressing the Pope.

How jarring is it when the first part ends? Somewhat, it is a bit shocking to see Kiril has the the new Catholic Pope since he was not a front runner for the position. Will Kiril be able to handle the new office of Pope as tensions between Russia and China escalate?

Which part is better? Part one is significantly better due to its ability to show the process of the papal conclave. Which up until the production of this film, was somewhat unknown.
