Where does the first part end? Harry Trimble (Martin Landau) and Peter Appleton (Jim Carrey) speak in the Majestic theatre projector room.

Final line of dialogue on the first part: “That’s the first time you’ve called me dad since you been back. You know….” Harry Trimble responds to Peter Appleton.

First line of dialogue on the second part: “Dad.” Peter Appleton wakes up Harry Trimble.

How jarring is it when the first part ends? Minimal, Peter Appleton still has amnesia from his car accident and is still confused. Peter still has a love for film and with a new purpose of fixing the Trimble cineama “The Majestic,” begins building a new life in the town of Lawson. But previous accusations of Peter’s past are beginning to emerge. How will this effect Peter moving forward.

Which part is better? Overall, the film is quite slow, with part two being significantly better, as Peter begins to regain memories of his past. Remembering these memories brings Peter back to facing those he ultimatly running away from.
