Where does the first part end? Jesus and his disciples finish the last supper and prepare to pray at Gethsemane.

Final line of dialogue on the first part: “Let him go. All of you I want to tell you something,” Jesus speaks to his disciples during the last supper, Judas leaves unexpectedly.

First line of dialogue on the second part: ” Wait for me here,” Jesus tells his disciples to wait for him as he goes to pray in Gethsemane.

How jarring is it when the first part ends? Minimal/Somewhat- depending on your familiarity of Catholicism and the story of Jesus Christ. Viewers are expecting Judas to break away from the disciples. Jesus’ will soon be arrested.

Which part is better? This film tells a different story of Jesus. In the film Jesus is given human traits and struggles, which causes him to be continuously at odds with himself. Part one shows Jesus’ travels and ability to unite people together. Part two focuses on Jesus’ arrest and crucifixion. For some, the events during the crucifixion may seen complexing as they do not follow the New Testament Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John). For this reason part one is given a slight edge as we are able to interpret another version of Jesus and his humanistic struggles with himself.
