How jarring is it when the first part ends? Minimal, this break in the film concludes the story of Noah and the ark. All living things are given another chance to live together in harmony. Will this act by God change the ways in which humans interact, treat one another and their beleve in God?
Which part is better? The break in the film concludes the early events portrayed in the Book of Genesis, including the stories of Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, and Noah, In part two the focus is on the story of Abraham with two shorter sections depicting the Tower of Babel and the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. The two parts differ greatly in tone and could themselves be their own independent films with minor edits. Part one is better due to John Huston’s ability to use music and various real life props to imagine the creation of Earth and what the garden of Eden must have been like.
