Where does the first part end? Lex Luther (Kevin Spacey) and his henchmen walk on boat deck to begin the first phase of their plan.

Final line of dialogue on the first part: No Dialogue the Krypton crystal is loaded into the gun canister and is shot into the sea from Lex Luther’s yacht.

First line of dialogue on the second part: “Dammit, she has a password!” Richard (James Marsden) speaks out-loud to Clark (Brandon Routh) as he tries to hack into Louis Lane’s computer at the Daily Planet.

How jarring is it when the first part ends? Jarring, with Lex Luther explaining his plan to Lois Lane, Metropolis and the rest of the North American continent will be underwater and replaced by another land mass made with kryptonite. Can Superman stop Lex Luther’s plan in time?

Which part is better? Part two is better as we are able to see Superman taken to the brink against is arch enemy Lex Luther, it is a showdown of brains over bronze and a bit of good fortune. The last 20 minutes of the film can be emotional, but still leaves the audience with a sense of hope and optimism.
