Where does the first part end? The Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe) convinces the other villains to betray Peter Parker (Tom Holland). May Parker (Marisa Tomei) is fatally injured and dies in Peter’s arms.
Final line of dialogue on the first part: An unnamed officer shouts, “All right, let’s go, let’s go! Move in!”
First line of dialogue on the second part: “Tragedy; What else can I call it? What more need be said? The damage, the destruction.” J. Jonah Jameson (J.K. Simmons) narrates.
How jarring is it when the first part ends? Jarring, in an attempt to help Electro (Jamie Foxx), Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina), the Green Goblin (Willwm Dafoe), and the Sandman (Thomas Haden Church), Peter Parker’s compassion backfires as the villain’s rebel, resulting in the death of Peter’s aunt May Parker. How will Peter recoup following his loss and will he manage to send the villains back to their respective universes?
Which part is better? The film brings together multiple faucets of the Marvel Cinematic Universe including other Avenger characters (i.e., Doctor Strange) and past film representations of the Spider-Man character. Part two is given a slight edge due to the final confrontation between the three Spider-Men and the villains in addition to a bittersweet ending.
