Spencer Tracey (1900-1967)

Known for his ‘naturalness,’ Spencer Tracey is referred to as one of the greatest actors of his generation due to his protean acting abilities. In the early 1930’s and 1940’s Tracey became one of a few successful actors to deliver his lines using a combination of emotional faces with nasal manners (Soares, 2008). Throughout the course of his career Spencer Tracey suffered from heavy substance abuse issues, which may have impacted his acting from reaching a nirvana stage. Nevertheless, Tracey’s achievements cannot be undersold as he was nominated for a total of nine Academy Awards for best leading actor, winning two of the nominations early in his career. Tracey’s legacy will be profoundly remembered for generations to come.
