Where does the first part end? Sheppard walks with a flock of goats through the Vale of Kashmir.
Final line of dialogue on the first part: “The far framed Vale of Kashmir” speaks the Narrator (Lowell Thomas).
First line of dialogue on the second part: “The Mughal Emperor of India Jahangir created the Shalimar garden in the Vale of Kashmir” speaks the Narrator.
How jarring is it when the first part ends? None, part one ends among the greenery of Hunza watching Sheppard’s leading goats through the foothills.
Which part is better? In the first part, we begin our journey with the Cinerama crew travelling through the Himalayas. Although there is some beautiful footage through the Shalimar Gardens and the River Boat scenes, the second part is generally quiet boring, especially during the coronation of the future king of Nepal . As a result, part one is given a slight advantage due to the variety and culture presented.
