Part 2 Time:  55 Minutes (Extended Edition: 63 Minutes)

Where does the first part end? Marian (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio) leaves Robin Hood’s (Kevin Costner) camp hideout with a message for King Richard (Sean Connery).

Final line of dialogue on the first part: “He fancies you, my lady, I am blind, but some things I can still see,” Duncan (Walter Sparrow) states to Marian.

First line of dialogue on the second part: At Nottingham castle, the Sheriff of Nottingham (Alan Rickman) speaks to Mortianna (Geraldine McEwan) stating, “In 10 days time, the barons are coming.”

How jarring is it when the first part ends? Minimal, at this point in the film it is unknown where the location of Robin Hood’s hideout is. Robin Hood and Marian seem to have a plan that will end the Sheriff of Nottingham’s reign. Will the plan be successful or does the Sheriff have a plan of his own?

Which part is better? In part two, the film really begins to pick up as the Sheriff of Nottingham sets in motion his master plan to finally have full control over England and stop Robin Hood once and for all. The second half is full of action and minor plot twists, which will keep you on your toes. As a result part two is superior to the first half.
