Where does the first part end? Dectective Loki (Jake Gyllenhaal) locates and arrests Bob Taylor (David Dastmalchian) a suspect in the disappearance of Anna and Joy.
Final line of dialogue on the first part: “aahh” shouts Dectective Loki as he opens a tub full of children’s clothes and snakes
First line of dialogue on the second part: “Take a look at these photographs, see if you can identify any of them?” Dectective Loki states to Nancy (Viola Davis) and Franklin Birch (Terrence Howard) as they look at various photographs of children’s clothes seized from Bob Taylor’s house.
How jarring is it when the first part ends? Jarring, since Alex Jone’s (Paul Dano) release as a suspect, no other suspects have been obtained. Bob Taylor does seem suspicious to due the evidence found in his home and his ability to evade the police during several events. Is Bob Taylor the kidnapper or is there others involved in the crime?
Which part is better? The film as a whole has the audience constantly guessing who the perpetrators are. Each protagonist uses various legal and illegal tactics order to find evidence. Part two is given the edge as we are sent on a roller coaster ride of plot twists and emotions. Here the audience is put face to face with all those responsible for the kidnapping and the final resolution.
