Final line of dialogue on the first part: “Not Bad Not Bad at all” Professor Henry Higgins responds to Colonel Hugh Pickering about Eliza Doolittle’s appearance before the Embassy Ball.
First line of dialogue on the second part: “Maestro, Maestro” Zoltan Karpathy Speaks to Professor Henry Higgins at the Embassy Ball.
How jarring is it when the first part ends? None, the audience knows that Eliza Doolittle, Professor Henry Higgins, and Colonel Hugh Pickering are travelling to the Embassy Ball. Eliza is able to hold a conversation with members of the British upper-class and will only get better overtime. But is she able to fit in with royalty.
Which part is better? Part one shows the transformation of Eliza’s character from lower to upper class. With help from Professor Henry Higgins she is able to speak with an upper class accent and move in upper class mannerisms. The second part focuses on Henry and Eliza’s relationship. Due to Eliza’s transformation part one is the better of the two.
