Final line of dialogue on the first part: “It’s Beautiful” Ann Darrow speaks to King Kong at his lookout.
First line of dialogue on the second part: “There” states Captain Englehorn (Thomas Kretschmann) to Carl Denham (Jack Black) and Jack Driscoll (Adrien Brody) after rescuing them from a pit.
How jarring is it when the first part ends? Somewhat, at this part in the film the crew has experienced a variety of death defying situations including, hostile natives, dinosaurs, man-eating spiders, and a giant gorilla. Many crew members have died and Ann Darrow is with King Kong at his lookout. Will the crew rescue Ann Darrow and return to New York safely?
Which part is better? Although significantly shorter, part two is fast paced, exciting, and terrifying. Here we see the protagonists (antagonists depending on your point of view) returning to New York with King Kong. A giant ape in a city with millions of civilians, sounds like world load of trouble!
