Part 2 Time:  91 Minutes

Where does the first part end? Cooper (Matthew McConaughey) and Brand (Anne Hathaway) sit in the Endurance’s lander, grieving the loss of Dr. Doyle (Wes Bentley) and discuss the impacts this will have on their relative time. The Endurance lander’s engine is waterlogged due to the gigantic tidal wave and cannot leave for one hour. Cooper and Brand leave Miller’s planet before the next wave hits.

Final line of dialogue on the first part:  “Engines up!” Cooper shouting to Brand and TARS.

First line of dialogue on the second part: “Hello Ron?” Brand greets Dr. Romily (David Gyasi) on the Endurance ,23 years have passed.

How jarring is it when the first part ends? Very jarring, the audience has many questions, will Cooper ever see his daughter again? Will the Endurance team find a habitable plant? What has happen over the course of 23 years?

Which part is better? Both parts have memorable qualities, with the first part focusing on Coopers relationships back on Earth, as well as the importance of the space mission for the future of humanity. The second part continues the space mission with Brand, Romily and Cooper reaching Dr. Mann’s planet. The second part is better due to the amount of action and Cooper’s experiences with the fifth dimension.
