Where does the first part end? President Coin (Julianne Moore) announces the successful liberation of the prisoners to the people of District 13. Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) sneaks into the medical facility. She sees Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) is being kept in isolation completely psychotic and screaming in agony.
Final line of dialogue on the first part: “Hoorah! Hoorah! Hoorah!” the people of District 13 chant in the background
First line of dialogue on the second part: “Ok, Ok, I know, I know, I’m sorry. I know it’s a little tender.” Doctor speaks to Katniess while she begins her vocal therapy.
How jarring is it when the first part ends? Somewhat, District 13 now has the momentium in overthrowing the Capitol. But the leader of the revolution (President Coin) is showing similairities of brutality that is no different than the current regime. Will Katniss address these issues?
Which part is better? Part one, shows the beginning stages of the revolution with Katniss becoming a symbol for all dirstricts in their attempt for freedom from the capitol. Katniess and memebers of the revolution attempt to free Peeta, Enobaria (Meta Golding), and Johanna (Jena Malone) from Capitol control. In part two, we see the makings of a new Capitol under the control of President Coin. Part two is given the advantage as it not only brings an end to the Hunger Games sega, but also shows how overthrowing one regime for another can spell similar results.
