Where does the first part end? Patrizia Reggiani (Lady Gaga) and Maurizio Gucci (Adam Driver) discuss the future plans of the Gucci company. Patrizia wants Maurizio to take over controlling interest in the Gucci company, by removing both his uncle Aldo (Al Pacino) and cousin Paolo (Jared Leto). Maurizio is relucant to remove both his uncle and cousin.
Final line of dialogue on the first part: “So am I,” Patrizia Reggiani responds to Maurizio Gucci when he mentions that Aldo and Paolo are family.
First line of dialogue on the second part: “He is starting a trade war,” Domenico De Sole (Jack Huston) speaks to Patrizia and Maurizio about Paolo becoming an independent designer.
How jarring is it when the first part ends? Minimal, Patrizia has slowly convinced Maurizio that only he should be the sole controlling interest of the Gucci company, but in order to do this, Aldo and Paolo need to be stripped of their voting shares. Will Maurizio portray his family?
Which part is better? Part two is better as we are able to see the cleverness and deceitfulness of both Patrizia and Maurizio as they gain and lose control of the Gucci company.
