Final line of dialogue on the first part: “I don’t know,” Hermonie responds to Harry’s question about who Nicholas Flamel is.
First line of dialogue on the second part: No dialogue, Hagrid drags in a tree for the Hogwarts Great hall. It is now Christmas break.
How jarring is it when the first part ends? Somewhat/Jarring, following Harry’s first quidditch is quite exciting. Even though there is a quick scene prior to the intermission it is still a jarring finish for the first half.
Which part is better? Both parts have many redeeming qualities. With part one introducing us to the Wizarding World and the various characters who will play a significant role in the entire Harry Potter series. A slight edge goes to part two as Harry finally comes face to face with the dark lord Voldemort for the first time in the series.
