Where does the first part end? Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Hermione (Emma Watson), and Ron (Rupert Grint) meet in the Gryffindor common room. Harry takes the Felix Felicis potion as a last ditch effort to achieve Professor Slughorn’s (Jim Broadbent) memory.

Final line of dialogue on the first part: “Trust me I know what I am doing. Or Felix does! Hi!” states Harry as he leaves the Gryffindor common room.

First line of dialogue on the second part: “Merlin’s beard, Harry!” states Professor Slughorn as Harry catches Professor Slughorn taking valuable Tentacula leaves.

How jarring is it when the first part ends? Minimal/Somewhat, Harry’s back is against the wall as he attempts to achieve the unhampered memory of Professor Slughorn. Obtaining this memory will bring to light Voldemort’s weaknesses. Will Harry be successful in obtaining the memory from Professor Slughorn?

Which part is better? Part two is significantly better as we are not only introduced to the concept of horcruxes and their importance in bring down Voldemort but also the loss of a major character in the series.
