Where does the first part end? Siblings Kabir (Ranveer Singh) and Ayesha (Priyanka Choopra Jonas) speak to each other on the port side of the ship.
Final line of dialogue on the first part: “Do you really want this marriage?” Ayesha asks, with Kabir responding with her own question, “Do you really want this divorce?
First line of dialogue on the second part: “Has Ayesha mentioned this to you before?” Kamal (Anil Kapoor) asks his wife Neelam (Shefali Shah).
How jarring is it when the first part ends? Somewhat, the cruise was intended to bring the Mehra family closer together, but instead is creating tension among the couples. Kamal is arranging for Kabir to marry Divya (Sarah Hashmi), the daughter of an investor who will invest in the Mehra family business. However, Kabir has fallen in love with a cruise ship entertainer Farah (Anushka Sharma). Divya is uninterested in Kamal as she is perusing another man. Ayesha is contemplating divorce from her husband Manav (Rahul Bose) and has begun to question what life may have been like with Sunny Gill (Farhan Akhtar), who has just arrived on the ship. With so many relationship tensions among the family members will they be able to reconcile their differences and pursue their love interests?
Which part is better? The film has many memorable moments throughout and shows that family dysfunction can happen regardless of social class. Part two is better as Kabir and Ayesha pursue their own love interests against the wishes of their family, bringing to light years of suppressed emotions, resentments and insecurities, which threaten to tear them apart.
