Where does the first part end?  The police find the twin stocking supposedly used by Chat;rs Alexander (Anthony Dawson) to choke Margot (Grace Kelly).

Final line of dialogue on the first part: “Look, it’s the other stocking,” states an officer.

First line of dialogue on the second part:  “Almost empty, remind me to get some more,” Tony Wendice (Ray Milland) speaks to his wife the next morning referring to the empty lighter fluid.

How jarring is it when the first part ends? Somewhat, after the failed murder attempt of Margot, Tony Wendice attempts to cover up and plant evidence to suggest that Margot did in fact murder Charles Alexander.
