Part 1 Time:  90 Minutes (Director’s Cut:  101 Minutes)

Part 2 Time:  52 Minutes (Director’s Cut:  50 Minutes)

Where does the first part end? Mani (Mark Dacascos) is left for dead after being attacked and tortured by the Brotherhood. A white wolf watches his body.

Final line of dialogue on the first part: With the intense fight between Mani and the Brotherhood, the final dialogue comes 2 minutes before the break as a member of the Brotherhood attends to the beast stating, “It’s alright. Pretty I’ll heal you, I’ll heal you.”

First line of dialogue on the second part: Grégoire de Fronsac (Samuel Le Bihan) discovers Mani’s body. Fronsac then proceeds to preform an autopsy. Dialogue begins approximately 2 minutes into the second part where Marquis d’Apcher (Hans Meyer) states to Fronsac, “Thomas is alseep. A close call.”

How jarring is it when the first part ends? Jarring, Fronsac, Mani, and Thomas d’ Apcher (Jérémie Renier) have severely injured the beast, but it still manages to escape. Mani pursues the beast but is outnumbered by the Brotherhood. His body is left to die but he rises his arm and makes a fist prior to the screen turning to black. Will Mani be rescued?

Which part is better? The film centres around the 1764 Beast of Gévaudan events, where a mysterious beast terrorized the county of the Gévaudan. Both parts explore the conspiracy surrounding these events as well as the capture of the beast. Both parts have many action pact scenes, but part two is given the edge as the mystery surrounding both the beast and the Brotherhood are uncovered.
