Where does the first part end? Emma (Léa Seydoux) and Adèle (Adèle Exarchopoulos) lay naked in bed, they have formally made their relationship official.
Final line of dialogue on the first part: “I’ll give it all I got,” Adèle whispers to Emma.
First line of dialogue on the second part: No dialogue in the first scene as Emma sketches a naked portrait of Adèle smoking a cigarette.
How jarring is it when the first part ends? Minimal, Adèle and Emma seem to have great chemistry and clearly love one another, but will the stress of living together effect their relationship moving forward?
Which part is better? Part one explores Adèle’s late teen years as she begins to realize she is attracted to women. She meets Emma and together they begin seeing each other. Part two, pick up a couple years later with Adèle and Emma living with each other. Although long and sometimes dragged out part two is better as Adèle and Emma face hardships within their relationship, bringing forth turmoil, sadness and regret.
