Part 2 Time:  92 Minutes

Where does the first part end? Quaritch (Stephen Lang) and his men commandeer a whaling vessel. They discuss their plans to begin searching reef villages within the archipelago.

Final line of dialogue on the first part: “Flight speed, aye,’ the helmsman confirms and begins piloting the ship forward towards the archipelago.

First line of dialogue on the second part: “Who’s that?” Tuktirey (Trinity Jo-Li) states as the tulkuns return to Metkayina.

How jarring is it when the first part ends?  Minimal/Somewhat- Quaritch now knows that Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and his family are being protected in one of the many villages within the archipelago. Quaritch looks to question the indigenous tribes to pinpoint Jake’s exact location, using any means necessary.

Which part is better? The CGI and visual effects within the film are spectacular, especially during the underwater scenes. Part one, focuses primarily on Jake Sully and his family adjusting to their new environment among the Metkayina. Part two is where the action really picks up, as Quaritch successfully lures out Jake Sully and his family, resulting in an all out confrontation.
