Where does the first part end? The alien appears during Dr. Hickenlooper’s (Tida Swinton) demonstration and steals the asteroid. Augie Steenbeck (Jason Schwartzman) captures a picture of the alien before it leaves.
Final line of dialogue on the first part: “The alien stole the asteroid,” states Augie Steenbeck
First line of dialogue on the second part: The host (Bryan Cranston) introduces the director of stage enactment. “Schubert Green, born Shylock Grzworvszowski, director, immigrant.”
How jarring is it when the first part ends? Somewhat, the alien has taken the famous asteroid. It is unknown if the alien is peaceful or a danger to the human race?
Which part is better? The only thing going for this film is the visuals, as the plot of the story is very bland. The star power of the cast is impressive, but the parody feels does not allow the cast to shine. Part one is given the advantage as we are able to see the cartoonish alien appear, which is single-handedly the most exciting part of the film.
Academy Awards: To be determined, 2024 nominations are yet to be announced
