Where does the first part end? Woman speaks to Passepatout on a ship heading towards America.
Final line of dialogue on the first part: “We are out of British jurisdiction now,” Woman states to Passepatout.
First line of dialogue on the second part: “He’s in America” members of the British Queen’s guard speak to one another.
How jarring is it when the first part ends? Minimal, Phileas Fogg’s (David Niven) journey to cross the world in 80 days is in on pace. Inpector Fix (Robert Newton), continues to track Phileas in order to arrest him for robbery. Passepartout tries to catch up with Phileas as both journey to North America.
Which part is better? For its time, this film gave audiences a chance to see the many continents and cultures of the world. The first part explores the areas of Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Part two focuses on North/South America and the journey across the Atlantic Ocean. Part one is better as it shows many cultures that are unfamiliar to those from North America as well as the importance of travel and experience.
